Ingredients

For the Donuts:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup warm milk

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Oil for frying

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or jelly

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2-3 tbsp milk

  • Pink food coloring

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pink, red, and white sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix warm milk with a pinch of sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Make the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Knead until smooth and elastic (8–10 minutes).

  3. First Rise:
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. Shape Donuts:
Roll dough to about ½ inch thick. Cut into rounds using a donut or biscuit cutter. Let rest 15 minutes.

  5. Fry:
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in batches, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden. Drain on paper towels.

  6. Fill:
Allow to cool slightly. Use a piping bag fitted with a narrow tip to inject strawberry jam into the center of each donut from the side.

  7. Glaze:
Mix powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and a few drops of pink food coloring until smooth. Dip the tops of the donuts and decorate with sprinkles immediately.

  8. Set or Serve:
Let the glaze set or serve right away for a warm, gooey treat!

Notes

  • For extra fruity flair, use flavored jam like strawberry-rose or raspberry.

  • Letting the donuts cool slightly before glazing helps prevent drips.

  • Donuts are best enjoyed the day they’re made but can be stored in an airtight container for 1–2 days.
