This Easy Eggs Benedict Casserole uniquely blends the flavors of classic Eggs Benedict into a hearty, baked brunch dish that’s perfect for gatherings. Layered with English muffins, Canadian bacon, and a rich egg custard, then topped with cheddar cheese and hollandaise sauce, it offers a delicious shortcut to a beloved breakfast favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Egg Mixture

  • 12 large eggs
  • 3 cups whole milk (can substitute with low-fat milk)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

For the Base

  • 8 pieces English muffins, quartered (can substitute with brioche or sourdough)
  • 8 ounces Canadian bacon or ham (can substitute with turkey bacon)

For the Topping

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (feel free to experiment with other cheeses)
  • 1 cup hollandaise sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Chopped chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the casserole evenly.
  2. Mix Egg Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the 12 eggs, 3 cups whole milk, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and Dijon mustard until the mixture is fully combined and slightly frothy, forming a rich custard base.
  3. Assemble Layers: Grease a baking dish and evenly arrange the quartered English muffins on the bottom. Layer the Canadian bacon evenly over the muffins. Pour the egg custard mixture evenly over the layered base. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese across the top.
  4. Bake Covered: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. This allows the eggs to set gently and the flavors to meld.
  5. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes until the casserole is fully set, golden brown on top, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Cool and Garnish: Let the casserole cool slightly for about 10 minutes. Drizzle warm hollandaise sauce over the top and garnish with chopped chives or parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Pair this casserole with fresh fruit or crispy hash browns for a full brunch experience.
  • Can be prepared the night before and baked fresh in the morning for convenience.
  • Substitute Canadian bacon with turkey bacon or ham to tailor the dish to your preference.
  • Try different cheeses like Gruyere or mozzarella for varied flavor profiles.
  • To make it spicier, increase the cayenne pepper or add a dash of hot sauce to the egg mixture.
