Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • 4 slices bread, lightly toasted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 68 radishes, thinly sliced
  • Dijon mustard (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the meat mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties in batches for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, toast the bread slices and spread each one with butter or olive oil. Sprinkle with chopped chives.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, place each one on a piece of toasted bread.
  6. Top each patty with a few slices of radish and a small dollop of Dijon mustard.
  7. Serve the frikadellen immediately, enjoying the savory combination of flavors.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or mustard powder to the meat mixture.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can serve the frikadellen with a side of salad instead of bread.
  • These patties can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before frying.
