A classic Southern dessert made with sweet, juicy peaches baked under a golden, buttery batter crust—simple, rustic, and perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 (29 oz) can sliced peaches in syrup (do not drain)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and stir until just combined—do not overmix.
  3. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the dish (do not stir).
  4. Spoon peaches and syrup evenly over the batter (again, do not stir).
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden and crisp.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Notes

  • Do not stir the layers—this helps create the signature cobbler texture.
  • Substitute fresh or frozen peaches if preferred—adjust sugar accordingly.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.
