This Holiday Baked Brie recipe offers a warm, melty cheese experience topped with a sweet-tart cranberry sauce. Perfect for New Year celebrations, it can be served simply on its own or wrapped in flaky puff pastry for an elegant appetizer that pairs beautifully with crackers or bread.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 wheel Brie cheese (8 oz)
  • 1/2 cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (optional, thawed if frozen)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brie: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). If using puff pastry, place the thawed sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  2. Wrap the Brie (Optional): Place the Brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry sheet. Spoon cranberry sauce evenly over the top of the Brie. Fold the pastry around the cheese, sealing edges carefully and trimming off any excess dough.
  3. Bake the Brie: Place the Brie (wrapped or unwrapped) on a baking dish or parchment-lined baking sheet. Spoon the cranberry sauce on top if you did not wrap the Brie. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the Brie is soft and melty inside and the puff pastry is golden and crisp if used.
  4. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly for about 5 minutes before serving. This allows the cheese to set a bit and prevents burning your mouth. Serve with crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh bread.

Notes

  • You can substitute cranberry sauce with other fruit preserves like fig or apricot for varied flavors.
  • To check if the Brie is melted, gently press the top; it should feel soft and jiggle slightly.
  • Use a silicone baking mat or parchment paper to prevent sticking when baking puff pastry.
  • For a gluten-free option, omit the puff pastry and serve the Brie plain or with gluten-free crackers.
  • Let the baked Brie rest before cutting to avoid cheese oozing out too quickly.
