Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 5 Italian sausages (mild or hot, casings intact)
  • 5 mozzarella cheese sticks or 1 1/4 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Using a sharp knife, make a lengthwise slit in each sausage without cutting all the way through.
  3. Carefully stuff each sausage with a mozzarella stick or a generous amount of shredded mozzarella.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear sausages for 2–3 minutes on each side until lightly browned.
  5. Pour marinara sauce over the sausages in the skillet. Sprinkle with dried basil and oregano.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the sausages are fully cooked.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve hot.
