Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/4 cup tapioca flour
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • Pink food coloring (or beet juice)
  • 1/2 cup sweet red bean paste (or filling of choice)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix glutinous rice flour, tapioca flour, sugar, and warm water until a smooth dough forms.
  • Divide the dough into portions and tint with pink food coloring or beet juice.
  • Roll each portion into thin circles and arrange them in a slightly overlapping petal formation.
  • Place a small amount of sweet red bean paste in the center of each petal set.
  • Carefully roll the dough over the filling and shape it into a rose-like dumpling.
  • Steam the dumplings for 10–12 minutes until soft, glossy, and slightly translucent.
  • Serve warm on a beautiful dish, optionally garnished with edible flowers or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

  • You can use different fillings like black sesame paste, lotus seed paste, or fruit preserves.
  • To enhance the floral aesthetic, brush the dumplings lightly with edible rose water before serving.
  • If the dough is too sticky, dust your hands with a little extra glutinous rice flour while shaping.
