Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 200g paneer, cut into strips or cubes
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yogurt or cream
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 large rotis or parathas
  • Chaat masala, to sprinkle
  • Pickled onions or fresh onion rings (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 30 seconds.
  2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
  3. Stir in turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add paneer, ketchup, and yogurt. Toss to coat everything in the masala. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the paneer is heated through.
  5. Warm the rotis or parathas on a pan. Place the spicy paneer mixture in the center.
  6. Top with pickled onions and a sprinkle of chaat masala.
  7. Roll it up tight into a frankie, wrap one end with parchment if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add more chili powder or a few green chilies while cooking the onions and peppers.
  • To make it even creamier, add a bit more yogurt or use a richer cream instead of yogurt.
  • Try serving this with a side of mint chutney for extra flavor.
