Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the lamb filling:
  • 1 lb lamb (shoulder or leg), thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (or to taste)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the yogurt sauce:
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the wraps:
  • 4 flatbreads or pita bread
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the lamb: In a bowl, combine the lamb with ground cumin, coriander, chili flakes, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  2. Prepare the yogurt sauce: In a small bowl, mix the Greek yogurt with lemon juice, chopped mint, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Cook the lamb: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated lamb and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat.
  4. Warm the flatbread: While the lamb is cooking, heat the flatbreads or pita in a dry pan for about 1-2 minutes on each side to warm them up.
  5. Assemble the wraps: Spread a spoonful of the yogurt sauce on each warm flatbread. Add a portion of the cooked lamb, and top with thinly sliced onions and fresh cilantro.
  6. Fold the flatbread over the filling to form a wrap and serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you prefer more spice, add extra chili flakes or some sliced jalapeños to the wraps.
  • For added crunch, you can include some shredded lettuce or pickled vegetables as a topping.
  • Feel free to substitute the lamb with chicken or beef if desired.
