Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8-pack brioche or plain soft slider buns
  • 1/2 lb (225g) raw prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup white sesame seeds (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • For the Maple Sesame Dipping Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp chili crisp or chili oil (optional for heat)
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roughly chop the prawns, then mix with garlic, ginger, green onions, mayonnaise, soy sauce, sesame oil, cilantro, and egg white in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Slice the slider buns in half horizontally without cutting all the way through, creating a hinge. Stuff generously with the prawn filling and close them gently.
  4. Brush the tops of the sliders with melted butter and press into a plate of sesame seeds until fully coated.
  5. Place the sliders on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden, puffed, and the filling is cooked through.
  6. While baking, whisk together all dipping sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  7. Serve the warm prawn toast sliders with the maple sesame dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chili crisp or chili oil to the dipping sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Ensure the prawns are finely chopped to create a smooth, spreadable texture for the filling.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can opt for low-fat mayonnaise.
