Crispy, flaky puff pastry bites filled with savory sausage meat, perfect as quick and delicious snacks for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 8 ounces sausage meat
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out and create an even thickness, approximately 1/8 inch thick.
  2. Add Sausage Meat: Season the sausage meat with salt and freshly ground black pepper, then place it in a long strip along the puff pastry edge or center, depending on how you plan to roll it.
  3. Roll Pastry: Starting from the edge with the sausage meat, roll the pastry tightly around the filling to form a log shape.
  4. Cut into Pieces: Brush the surface of the rolled pastry with the beaten egg to help with sealing and browning. Then cut the roll into bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch thick.
  5. Bake: Place the cut pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spaced apart. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  6. Serve: Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm or at room temperature as party snacks.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs like thyme or sage to the sausage meat before rolling.
  • Use all-butter puff pastry for richer taste and flakiness.
  • To make cutting easier, chill the rolled pastry in the fridge for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • These snacks can be prepared ahead and reheated in a low oven before serving.
