Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry
8 ounces sausage meat
1 egg, beaten
Salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Prepare Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out and create an even thickness, approximately 1/8 inch thick.
Add Sausage Meat: Season the sausage meat with salt and freshly ground black pepper, then place it in a long strip along the puff pastry edge or center, depending on how you plan to roll it.
Roll Pastry: Starting from the edge with the sausage meat, roll the pastry tightly around the filling to form a log shape.
Cut into Pieces: Brush the surface of the rolled pastry with the beaten egg to help with sealing and browning. Then cut the roll into bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch thick.
Bake: Place the cut pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spaced apart. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Serve: Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm or at room temperature as party snacks.
Notes
For extra flavor, add herbs like thyme or sage to the sausage meat before rolling.
Use all-butter puff pastry for richer taste and flakiness.
To make cutting easier, chill the rolled pastry in the fridge for 10 minutes before slicing.
These snacks can be prepared ahead and reheated in a low oven before serving.
