Golden brown on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside—these pan-fried dumplings are the perfect comfort food!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 20 dumpling wrappers
  • 1 cup ground pork (or chicken)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp oil (for frying)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground meat, shredded cabbage, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onions, and cornstarch until well combined.
  2. Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Fold and pinch the edges to seal.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Place dumplings flat-side down and fry until the bottoms turn golden brown.
  4. Add ¼ cup water to the pan, then cover with a lid to steam for about 5 minutes.
  5. Uncover the pan and let any remaining water evaporate, allowing the dumplings to crisp up again.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and extra chopped green onions.
  7. Serve hot with soy sauce or chili oil for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use pre-made dumpling wrappers or make your own from scratch.
  • For extra flavor, mix a little rice vinegar into the soy sauce for dipping.
  • These dumplings can be frozen before cooking and steamed directly from frozen.
