Oven-baked for that perfect crunch and deep toffee flavor, it’s a classic treat perfect for movie nights, holiday gifting, or just indulging in sweet, crunchy goodness anytime.

Ingredients

  • 10 cups plain popped popcorn (air-popped or stove-popped)

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

  2. Place popcorn in a large, heat-safe mixing bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels.

  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt. Stir until it reaches a boil.

  4. Allow to boil undisturbed for 4–5 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat and immediately stir in baking soda and vanilla (mixture will foam up).

  6. Quickly pour caramel over popcorn and toss to coat evenly.

  7. Spread the caramel-coated popcorn on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.

  8. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating.

  9. Let cool completely, then break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

For extra flair, mix in toasted nuts or drizzle with melted chocolate once cooled. Makes a fantastic edible gift or party favor!
