Maple Bacon Bourbon Jam is a rich, sweet-and-savory spread made with crispy bacon, caramelized onions, maple syrup, and bourbon—perfect for burgers, charcuterie boards, or gourmet toast toppings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb thick-cut bacon, chopped
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Drain excess fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.
  2. Add diced onions to the skillet and cook for 10–15 minutes until caramelized. Stir in garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes more.
  3. Add brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, coffee, and bourbon. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Return the bacon to the skillet. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Season with black pepper. Let cool slightly.
  6. Transfer to a food processor and pulse a few times if a smoother texture is desired.
  7. Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Use smoked bacon for extra depth of flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup or brown sugar.
  • Great as a gift in small mason jars—just label and chill.
  • Delicious paired with sharp cheeses, eggs, or grilled meats.
