A classic and refreshing summer drink made with fresh lemon juice, homemade simple syrup, and cold water—perfectly sweet-tart and served over ice for instant cooling.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 4 cups cold water (for dilution)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar dissolves completely to make simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice and cooled simple syrup.
  3. Add 4 cups of cold water and stir well. Adjust sweetness by adding more water if needed.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

Notes

  • Use Meyer lemons for a naturally sweeter lemonade.
  • Add fresh herbs like mint or basil for a fun twist.
  • Store leftover lemonade in the fridge for up to 3 days.
