Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • Red food coloring (for pink nougat)
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped almonds or peanuts

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium-high until it reaches 260°F (hard ball stage).
  2. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. Slowly pour the hot syrup into the egg whites while continuing to beat.
  4. Add vanilla extract, salt, marshmallows, and food coloring.
  5. Fold in the chopped nuts.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased pan, smooth the surface, and let it cool completely.
  7. Cut into bars and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use a candy thermometer to ensure the syrup reaches 260°F (hard ball stage) for the perfect chewy texture.
  • Work quickly when mixing in marshmallows and nuts, as the nougat sets fast.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep it fresh and prevent it from becoming too sticky.
