Shrimp Platter Ingredients

  • 1 pound cooked large shrimp (peeled and deveined, tail-on)
  • 34 lemon wedges for garnish
  • 1 cup cocktail sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook the shrimp (if using raw shrimp): Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the raw shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Immediately transfer the shrimp to an ice bath to stop the cooking process and chill completely.
  2. Arrange the shrimp: Drain the shrimp well and pat dry. Neatly arrange them in a circular pattern around a large serving platter, ensuring the tails are visible for easy handling.
  3. Add the cocktail sauce: Place the cocktail sauce in a small bowl and set it in the center of the shrimp arrangement on the platter.
  4. Garnish with lemon wedges: Decorate the platter with lemon wedges around the shrimp to add a fresh citrus touch and enhance presentation.
  5. Chill before serving: Refrigerate the platter for at least 30 minutes before serving to keep the shrimp cold and the flavors fresh.

Notes

  • If using pre-cooked shrimp, simply thaw and chill before arranging.
  • Cocktail sauce can be store-bought or homemade with ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Serve with extra lemon wedges and toothpicks for easy eating.
  • Keep the shrimp chilled to maintain food safety and optimal taste.
