These Grilled Sausage & Peppers Hoagies are packed with juicy Italian sausages, charred to perfection and loaded with sautéed bell peppers, onions, and garlic. Served in toasted hoagie rolls, they’re an irresistible meal for BBQs, game day, or an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 Italian sausages (mild or spicy)

  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub buns

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced

  • 1 green bell pepper, diced

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Salt and pepper to taste

 

  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium heat. Grill sausages for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and nicely charred.

  2. While sausages cook, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  3. Add diced bell peppers and chopped onions. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened.

  4. Add minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes.

  5. Lightly toast hoagie rolls on the grill or in a dry skillet.

  6. Place grilled sausages in buns, top with generous spoonfuls of the sautéed pepper and onion mixture.

  7. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use spicy sausage for a kick, or try turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter version.

  • Add provolone or mozzarella cheese for a melty twist.
