Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the diced apples.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding a handful of chopped nuts, such as walnuts or almonds, to the batter.
  • Serve the cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an indulgent treat.
  • Ensure the apples are evenly distributed throughout the batter to avoid them sinking to the bottom during baking.
