A fun and spooky twist on the classic deviled eggs, perfect for Halloween parties. With vibrant green filling and eerie cracked egg shells, these Halloween deviled eggs will give your guests a frightful surprise.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Eggs, hard-boiled
  • 3 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • 1 tsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 splash White vinegar
  • 1 Food coloring (green or purple/black for a spooky effect)
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Pepper
  • 1 Sprinkle Paprika (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Eggs: Start by boiling the eggs. Place the eggs in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Once done, remove the eggs from the hot water and place them in a bowl of ice water to cool for about 10 minutes.
  2. Create the Spooky Effect: Once the eggs are cool, gently crack the shells and peel them. Place the peeled eggs in a bowl of water mixed with food coloring (green, purple, or black) for about 10 minutes. This will create the “cracked” and spooky color effect on the egg shells.
  3. Make the Filling: Cut the eggs in half lengthwise and carefully remove the yolks. Place the yolks in a bowl and mash them with a fork. Add the mayonnaise, mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  4. Fill the Eggs: Spoon the filling back into the egg whites or use a piping bag to create a fun swirl effect. Sprinkle paprika on top for a little extra spookiness.
  5. Serve: Arrange the spooky deviled eggs on a platter and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, you can also top with edible googly eyes or other creepy garnishes.
  • If you want a stronger flavor, feel free to adjust the amount of mustard or vinegar to taste.
  • Ensure the food coloring is food-safe, and avoid over-soaking the eggs to prevent too much color from bleeding into the whites.
