A delightful twist on the classic Brazilian brigadeiro, filled with smooth and creamy dulce de leche, these bite-sized treats offer a rich caramel flavor encased in a sweet chocolate shell. Perfect for any special occasion or as an indulgent treat!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup dulce de leche (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup desiccated coconut (for coating)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (for piping on top)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan (about 8-10 minutes).
  2. Once the brigadeiro mixture is thickened, transfer it to a plate to cool slightly.
  3. After it cools enough to handle, grease your hands with a little butter and roll the brigadeiro mixture into small balls (about the size of a marble).
  4. Create a small indentation in the center of each ball using your finger or a spoon. Fill each indentation with a small amount of dulce de leche.
  5. Roll the balls again to seal the dulce de leche inside.
  6. Roll each filled brigadeiro in desiccated coconut to coat.
  7. Melt the chocolate chips and pipe a swirl of chocolate on top of each brigadeiro.
  8. Allow the brigadeiros to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to grease your hands with butter to prevent the brigadeiro mixture from sticking while rolling.
  • You can also use sprinkles or chopped nuts for coating instead of desiccated coconut if preferred.
  • For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle more melted chocolate over the brigadeiros before serving.
