  • 1 lb chicken breast or thigh strips
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 small red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds or cashews
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, mix chicken strips with soy sauce, egg, cornstarch, and all-purpose flour. Marinate for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Fry Chicken: Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken in batches until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: In another pan, heat a little oil and sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  4. Cook Peppers: Add sliced bell peppers and cook for a few minutes until slightly softened.
  5. Make Sauce: Stir in chili garlic sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and chili flakes. Let the sauce simmer.
  6. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss until well coated. Cook for 2–3 more minutes.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds or cashews. Serve hot.
