A sophisticated Italian appetizer featuring creamy burrata cheese complemented by sweet dried figs, savory bresaola, and vibrant roasted red peppers, finished with crunchy pumpkin seeds, fresh basil, and a drizzle of basil oil and aged balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese & Meat

  • 1 fresh burrata ball (100–125g)
  • 45 slices of bresaola, gently rolled or folded

Fruit & Vegetables

  • 4 dried figs, halved
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, sliced
  • Handful of fresh basil leaves

Seeds & Oils

  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
  • 1 tbsp basil oil or extra virgin olive oil

Condiments & Seasonings

  • 1 tsp aged balsamic glaze
  • Flaky sea salt, to finish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Allow the burrata to come to room temperature by leaving it out for 15–20 minutes, ensuring its creamy texture and flavor are at their peak. Lightly toast the pumpkin seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until they are golden and fragrant to add crunch. If using jarred roasted peppers, drain off excess liquid and pat dry to prevent the plate from becoming watery.
  2. Plate with Intention: Place the burrata ball in the center of a large white plate as the focal point. Arrange the roasted red peppers around one side in a clean, layered pattern for visual appeal and balanced flavor. Nestle the halved dried figs cut side up around 3 to 4 points of the plate to create striking visual contrast. Fold or roll the bresaola slices neatly and position them beside the burrata. Sprinkle the toasted pumpkin seeds evenly over the peppers and figs for textural contrast. Drizzle the basil oil in a sweeping circle or dot pattern around the plate to infuse freshness and aroma. Add a few drops or a light swirl of aged balsamic glaze over the arrangement to introduce sweet acidity and a glossy finish. Finish by sprinkling flaky sea salt over the entire plate and garnishing with fresh basil leaves for color and herbal brightness.

  • Lightly toasting pumpkin seeds adds a crunchy texture and nutty aroma.
  • Drain roasted peppers well to prevent excess moisture on the plate.
  • Arrange elements thoughtfully for an elegant presentation that highlights the Italian flavors.
  • Substitute fresh figs when in season for a juicier texture.
  • This appetizer pairs well with crusty bread or crostini.
