Ingredients
UnitsScale
2 1/2cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1cup whole milk
1cup colorful sprinkles
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans or line with parchment circles.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mix. Beat until just combined.
Gently fold in the sprinkles with a spatula to avoid color bleeding.
Divide batter evenly among the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
Bake for 25–28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Frost and layer with your favorite vanilla buttercream, decorate with extra sprinkles, and serve.
Notes
Use jimmies-style sprinkles to prevent bleeding of color in the batter.
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best texture.
Can be made ahead and stored unfrosted in the fridge or freezer.
