Classic Deviled Eggs with a Twist are a delightful appetizer combining the traditional creamy egg yolk filling with a hint of smoky paprika and zesty lime juice for a unique flavor experience. Perfect for gatherings, make-ahead friendly, and customizable to your tastes.

Ingredients

Scale

Eggs

  • 12 large eggs

Filling

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings and Garnishes

  • Smoked paprika, for dusting
  • Extra lime juice, for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Hard‑Boiling the Eggs: Place the 12 large eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover them with cold water by about 1 inch. Bring the water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover the saucepan, remove it from heat, and let the eggs sit undisturbed for exactly 10 minutes to cook through perfectly.
  2. Preparing the Filling: After the eggs have finished cooking, cool them under cold running water or in an ice bath to stop the cooking process and make peeling easier. Peel the eggs carefully, then slice each egg in half lengthwise. Gently scoop out the yolks into a mixing bowl, reserving the whites. Mash the yolks with a fork until crumbly, then stir in the plain Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, fresh lime juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  3. Assembling the Deviled Eggs: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the hollowed-out egg whites, filling each half generously. Just before serving, sprinkle each deviled egg with a light dusting of smoked paprika for a smoky flavor and add a tiny drizzle of extra lime juice if you prefer a sharper zing. Arrange the eggs on a serving platter in a decorative pattern such as a circular ring or rows for an appealing presentation.

Notes

  • For best flavor, refrigerate assembled deviled eggs for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
  • These deviled eggs can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • They are freezer safe for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the refrigerator and garnish fresh before serving.
  • To customize, consider adding chopped fresh herbs, crumbled bacon, or a dash of hot sauce to the filling.
  • Use a piping bag for a more elegant presentation when filling the egg whites.
