Christmas Cookie Cups combine a soft sugar cookie crust with creamy cream cheese frosting and festive Christmas sprinkles. These bite-sized treats are perfect for holiday parties or cookie exchanges, offering a fun and colorful twist on traditional cookies.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 17 ounces sugar cookie mix (1 pouch, unprepared)
  • Ingredients required by the cookie mix package (typically 1 egg and butter, quantity as per package instructions)
  • ¼ cup Christmas sprinkles

Frosting and Topping

  • 16 ounces canned cream cheese frosting
  • ¼ cup Christmas sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a 24-cup mini muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Make Cookie Dough: In a large bowl, combine the sugar cookie mix with the egg and butter called for on the package. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Add Sprinkles to Dough: Gently fold in ¼ cup of Christmas sprinkles to the dough, being careful not to overmix to prevent the dough from turning an unappetizing color.
  4. Form Cookie Cups: Using a 1-inch cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop 1-inch dough balls into each muffin cup. Spray the back of a round ½ teaspoon spoon with non-stick spray and press into the center of each dough ball to create a crater.
  5. Bake: Bake the cookie cups for 8-10 minutes or until they just start to turn golden brown.
  6. Reform Craters: Remove the muffin tin from the oven and quickly press the back of a teaspoon into the center of each cookie cup again to reinforce the crater shape.
  7. Cool: Allow the cookie cups to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then pop them out onto a wire rack to cool completely for 45-60 minutes.
  8. Pipe Frosting and Decorate: Transfer the cream cheese frosting to a piping bag and fill each cooled cookie cup crater with 1-2 tablespoons of frosting. Top with the remaining Christmas sprinkles and serve.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the sprinkles into the dough to avoid discoloration.
  • Use non-stick spray on the spoon to prevent dough from sticking when creating the craters.
  • Make sure cookies are completely cooled before adding frosting to prevent melting.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Perfect for holiday cookie exchanges and parties.
