These delicious chocolate mousse cups feature a creamy chocolate mousse filling inside a crispy chocolate shell, topped with fresh strawberries and a drizzle of chocolate for an indulgent treat perfect for any occasion.

  • For the chocolate cups:
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, melted
  • 4 oz milk chocolate, melted
  • For the chocolate mousse:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the topping:
  • Fresh strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate, melted (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Make the chocolate cups: In a small bowl, mix the melted dark and milk chocolate together. Use a silicone muffin tin or cupcake liners to create the cups. Spoon a little of the melted chocolate into each cup and use a brush or spoon to coat the sides evenly. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to set, then add a second layer of chocolate and refrigerate again for 10 minutes until fully hardened. Remove the cups from the molds once set.
  2. Prepare the mousse: In a saucepan, heat 1/2 cup heavy cream until just about to simmer. Pour it over the chopped dark chocolate and stir until smooth. Let the chocolate mixture cool to room temperature. Whip the remaining 1/2 cup heavy cream with sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture until smooth and well combined.
  3. Assemble the cups: Fill each chocolate cup with the chocolate mousse.
  4. Decorate: Top with a fresh strawberry and drizzle with melted chocolate for extra flair.
  5. Serve: Enjoy these decadent chocolate mousse cups immediately or refrigerate for 1-2 hours for the mousse to firm up slightly.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use only dark chocolate for the mousse filling.
  • If you don’t have a silicone muffin tin, you can use cupcake liners in a standard muffin pan.
  • For a more decorative touch, top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings.
