These Chocolate-Dipped Figs with Sea Salt are an effortlessly elegant treat—fresh, ripe figs dipped in rich dark chocolate and finished with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. The perfect bite of sweet, bitter, and savory, ideal for refined snacking, cheese boards, or minimalist desserts.

Ingredients

  • 6 fresh ripe figs

  • 100g dark chocolate (70% cacao or higher), chopped

  • 1/2 tsp coconut oil (optional, for smoother melt)

  • Flaky sea salt, for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Figs:

  • Rinse and gently pat dry the figs.

  • Slice each fig in half vertically to expose the jewel-toned interior.

2. Melt the Chocolate:

  • In a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water (double boiler), melt the dark chocolate with the coconut oil (if using). Stir until smooth.

  • Alternatively, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and glossy.

3. Dip the Figs:

  • Dip each fig half about halfway into the melted chocolate.

  • Allow excess chocolate to drip off.

  • Place the figs, cut-side up, on a parchment-lined tray.

4. Garnish and Set:

  • While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over each piece.

  • Transfer to the fridge and chill for 15–20 minutes, until the chocolate is firm.

5. Serve:

  • Enjoy the same day for best texture and flavor.

  • Great as a standalone dessert, elegant snack, or gourmet cheese board addition.

Notes

  • Substitute figs with dried figs or other fruits like apricots or pears if out of season.

  • For extra flair, drizzle with white chocolate or dust with crushed pistachios.

  • Use vegan chocolate to keep it plant-based.
