Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 round loaf sourdough bread (unsliced)

Cheese

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese

Other

  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp ranch seasoning
  • 2 tbsp sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread: Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the round loaf of sourdough bread into a grid pattern, slicing about 1 inch apart both horizontally and vertically. Be sure not to cut all the way through to keep the loaf intact.
  2. Make ranch butter mixture: In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter and ranch seasoning until well combined.
  3. Drizzle butter into bread: Gently drizzle the ranch butter into all the cuts of the bread, ensuring the seasoning and butter seep into every crevice for maximum flavor.
  4. Stuff the fillings: Evenly distribute the shredded cheddar, mozzarella cheese, and crumbled cooked bacon into the openings created by the cuts. Press the filling slightly to ensure it stays inside the loaf.
  5. Wrap and bake: Wrap the stuffed loaf tightly in foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and the bread to heat through.
  6. Final bake and garnish: Carefully unwrap the foil and bake the bread uncovered for an additional 5 minutes to create a golden crust. Remove from oven, sprinkle with sliced green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute sourdough with other crusty bread like French or Italian loaf if desired.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the butter mixture.
  • Ensure the bacon is cooked crispy for added texture.
  • Use sharp cheddar for stronger flavor or mild cheddar for a creamier taste.
  • Leftover bread can be reheated wrapped in foil at 350°F for 10 minutes.
