These delicate homemade butter cookies are light, flaky, and filled with a rich, sweetened condensed milk filling. Dust them with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness, making them perfect for a tea time treat or any special occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 125 g soft butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons cooked sweetened condensed milk (can be caramelized or regular)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the soft butter, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar (or vanilla extract), and egg. Mix until smooth.
  2. Add the vegetable oil and mix again.
  3. Sift together the all-purpose flour and cornstarch, then gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Chill the dough in the fridge for about 20 minutes to make it easier to work with.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into small balls. Then press each ball lightly to flatten and create a pattern with a fork or cookie mold for decoration.
  7. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown around the edges.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once the cookies have cooled, use a small spoon or piping bag to add the sweetened condensed milk filling in the center of each cookie.
  11. Gently press another cookie on top, sandwiching the filling inside.
  12. Dust the filled cookies with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy these delicate, rich cookies with a cup of tea or coffee!

Notes

  • Use caramelized sweetened condensed milk for a richer, toffee-like flavor.
  • Chilling the dough makes it easier to shape and prevents spreading while baking.
  • Store filled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
