  • 6 slices deli ham

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • 1 tsp poppy seeds

  • 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

  • 6 slices deli ham

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • 1 tsp poppy seeds

  • 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle.

  3. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry if using.

  4. Lay ham slices evenly over the pastry and top with shredded cheese.

  5. Roll the pastry tightly from the long edge into a log.

  6. Slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels and arrange them flat on the prepared baking sheet.

  7. Beat the egg and brush the tops of the pinwheels with it.

  8. Sprinkle with poppy seeds, thyme, salt, and pepper.

  9. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden.

  10. Serve warm as a snack, brunch item, or party appetizer.

Notes

  • You can swap the ham for turkey or prosciutto and try other herbs like rosemary or chives.

  • For extra crispiness, chill the rolled log for 15 minutes before slicing.

  • Make-ahead friendly: prep, refrigerate, and bake fresh when ready.
