4 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
1/2cup chopped walnuts
2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
4 small pats of unsalted butter
Optional: pinch of nutmeg, raisins, or honey drizzle
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Core each apple, leaving the bottom intact to create a small cavity.
In a bowl, mix the chopped walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Spoon the filling into each apple until fully stuffed.
Top each filled apple with a small pat of butter.
Place the apples in a baking dish and add a splash of water (about 1/4 cup) to the bottom of the pan.
Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until the apples are soft and the tops slightly golden.
Serve warm with a drizzle of honey or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
Use a melon baller or small spoon to core the apples easily.
Substitute pecans or almonds if desired.
Best served fresh but can be reheated in the microwave or oven.
